Love quilting? Got questions? Members of the Red Rock Quilters would love to visit with you! Perhaps bring a small project to work on and enjoy the fellowship of quilting by getting your questions answered or just talking about the joy of quilting. They welcome all levels of quilters, fabric lovers, guests, and traveling quilters. There is no charge for this demonstration.
“Sarah Brady – A Re-enactment” by Rachelle Richards of the Prescott Elks Opera Guild.
Rachelle portrays her great grandmother, who came to AZ at age 18 in 1877. She married Francis Brady in 1879 at Oak Creek and gave birth to her second daughter under a wagon while at Fort McDowell during an evacuation. A year later, her brother John was involved in what was to become the bloodiest feud in American history—The Pleasant Valley War.
The Verde Valley Woodcarvers, with members from beginners to master carvers, was formed in 1997 by Norm Knight. They have had hundreds of people try their hand at carving since then with several members meeting weekly. Come by with your own equipment or just come to watch these artisans do relief carving, chip carving, and found wood and bark carving. There is no fee for this demonstration.
Do you have an interest in weaving, spinning, basket making, dyeing yarns, or knitting? If so, come join the members of the Verde Valley Weavers and Spinners Guild while they practice their art and share their love of fiber arts. Feel free to watch, or bring your spinning wheel and yarns and join in the fun. They would be happy to answer any questions. There is no charge for this demonstration.
