Welcome to the Sedona Historical Society Web Site! We are the caretakers of Sedona history.

One might claim that Sedona began 350 million years ago. That's how long it has taken for Nature to form our red rocks by earth thrusts, sea changes and erosion forces. Or maybe 1000 years ago, when primitive hunter-gatherers evolved into the Native Americans we know as Sinagua, who farmed and traded with faraway tribes.

Our Museum is focused on the lifestyles and works of the people who pioneered this community, from 1876 to the present.

The Sedona Historical Society's mission is to research, preserve and teach the history of the greater Sedona area.

Images of Sedona Book
"Images of Sedona" is the first ever book of historic photos of Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon  with 200 plus images from the Sedona Historical Society's archives.  It begins with photos of Sedona areas earliest settlers, and then chronicles our agriculture, orchard, ranching, movie and development history.

Please visit our Museum Shop for more information, and to order your copy.
